We all know that sleep deprivation can trigger seizures.
Some people’s seizures are tied very closely with their sleep. You may have all of your seizures while sleeping, when falling asleep or waking up.
Lot of things can affect your sleep and make you more likely to have seizures. Here are a few factors to consider:
Almost a third of people with epilepsy may suffer with undiagnosed sleep apnea, a sleep disorder which is dangerous because of the possible serious consequences.
Basically (as you probably already know), sleep apnea is characterized by abnormal pauses in breathing or instances of abnormally low breathing during sleep.
Each pause in breathing, called an apnea, can last from at least ten seconds to minutes, and may occur 5 to 30 times or more an hour, causing partial airway obstruction.
As sleep deepens, your airway becomes blocked.
When I was in my 30’s, I worked real hard and made pots of money.
No sleep.
Many seizures.
But big bucks.
Fear. Screaming. Visions. Bright lights flashing. Hallucinations. Tongue biting. Pain. Paralysis. Pins and needles. Bed wetting.
