Just recently, we lost our cat. It was way too soon.
So, I wrote this down to try to express exactly what I feel…
Treat me kindly, dear master. Accord me the courtesy due to a cat — and I for my part will love you, amuse you and cheer your heart as only a cat can do.
Give me a sunny spot to sleep in when morning dawns and I will warm your lap on cold evenings.
Respect my independence and my need to walk alone at times and I will look after myself, so that you may come and go as you please.
Speak to me in our secret kitty language, let me hear my name sung in the music of your voice, and I will meow happily in sweet harmony with you.
Stroke my fur gently and lovingly and I will soothe you with the soft purrs that can only come from a happy cat.
Indulge my curiosity and I will show you the joys of bird watching, star gazing and other kitty pleasures.
Play with me and see me rejoice! Toss a humble ball of yarn and I will delight you with my cleverness and acrobatic leaps.
But do not laugh at me or allow me to be teased for there is nothing I prize more than my dignity.
Keep my surroundings neat and clean and I will be fastidious in my habits.
Feed me and be fair and I will teach you how to tell “kitty time” by instinct and tummy tunes.
And when I am old and the time comes to say farewell, hold me gently in your arms and I will go without a whimper.
For with you I am trusting, safe and secure. A cat who walked alone but loved you with a full and happy heart.

Thank you very much Valerie. It’s just been 10 hours, so I’m still feeling pretty raw.

Oh Leda. Thank you so much. It’s been so difficult. Last night, Peewee took Emmie’s place on my pillow, trying to comfort me.

Sad to hear ur loss Phylis. I have 6 cats, 5 outdoors (1male and 4 females) and one indoor male. I had 8 cats last yr, but the one outdoor male cat (Nappy) chases the other male cats off my property. He is a ginger cat and very territorial. Why hell he chased his own brother away. Who came back 6 months later and i treated as an indoor cat until i had to leave for a week and had to put him outside when his brother chased him off again, to never been seen. That’s why i have the last male of last yrs liter here inside. When i let him out Nappy will try and attack him but this cat doesn’t run away like the others, he finds a nice corner and he will fight Nappy. When that happens i go and rescue my indoor cat and bring him inside. I love cats, probably because growing up never had a cat. Mom didnt’ like animals, especially indoors.
Well i’m recovering from Spigelian hernia surgery from 2 weeks ago exactly. Ugh !! I’ve been suffering with it for like 5 yrs and every time i complained i went for tests, but the tests came back as no fault found. ugh That’s because in order for them to find it the small intestines need to be poke thru the hernia in order for it to be found on any test. Well 2 weds ago i went to town to get lumber from home depot and the pain flared up so i went to the ER right away and after waiting in the ER for 2 hrs with pain, they got me in a CT scan and found it. Then i had immediate surgery since that type of hernia is a strangulation type of hernia which can cause major problems if it strangles my intestine.

Wow, two alpha cats and a hernia. Sounds like quite a platefull.
Seriously, I’m glad they found your hernia in time. (It sounds like just in time.)
Hope you’re on the rebound now. It’s good to hear from you!

Ya, but that wasn’t the only problems i had, 9 months ago i was diagnosed as pre diabetic, 3 months later i was diagnose with diabeties. So i removed all my sugar intake, no more sugar in my coffee, no more sodas, or sugary drinks, and stopped eating sugary stuff, like donuts, pastries, etc…. Drank lemon juice without sugar as well. in 6 months my ACA went from 6.5 to 5.9, making me no longer diabetic. Within those 6 months i also took Jardance and when i went back to normal the doc told me i can stop taking it or continue to take it. Of course i said i want to stop it.
The Joys of life. 🙂

Wow. A pocketful of joy.
What is Jardance? Herbal? OTC? Rx?

What a beautiful tribute. Only a being who has been beloved by cats is able to write such a perfect ode. Take care of yourself. 🐱
