I’ve got to admit, my seizures were all over the place. Absence, drop, tonic-clonic…
I never knew whether I was coming or going.
Before I did a “face plant”, I would try to scramble to the floor on my own accord.
But, I wasn’t often successful.
Concussions are my middle name. Oh, if I had a dollar for each one!
But this really isn’t about me.
It’s about you. What kinds of seizures you have. And how you cope with them.

I deal with Absenses. I end up having to nap afterwards, because they are so draining. Sometimes I’ll feel like they happen in the days after the first one strikes.

I understand the fatigue. After the storm, it’s like gray clouds and then more rain.
(I’m thinking of this analogy because we had a terrible storm last night.)
Lightening and thunder like a seizure.
I think the seizures after are sort of like a hangover.
Are they the same type? More or less violent. Do you have to rest longer after them?

I’ll definitely feel off kilter afterwards. Sometimes I can keep going as normal, but others, I’ll need to redo things. Some are fairly tame, like the ones that seem to happen within seconds, and others take a lot out of me. But sometimes, it’s the quick ones that are the most draining.

Sounds like you definitely need some “time out.”

I believe mine were Catamenial as they were always around my cycle & I had Grand Mal (they were called then). They have been controlled for many years but have every side effect from med. Had to retire early – just exhausted all the time among other things & couldn’t make it through day hardly. Hoping I can find good Epileptologist that can put me on better meds.

I don’t know where you live Lesleigh, but here is a compilation by website forum members who have had positive personal experiences with docs over the years.
This list is based on recommendations and, of course, is purely subjective. But it might be helpful for anyone looking for a good Neurologist…Epileptologist…Neurosurgeon…or Pediatric Doctor. https://epilepsytalk.com/2025/01/02/2025-patient-recommendations-for-top-neurologistsepileptologistsneurosurgeonsand-pediatric-doctors/

Thank-you so much for this! I am near Tampa & was going to go to one that is pretty notable but then reviews on him weren’t the best so I will check into some of these listed. I came close to giving up going to one again I’ve had such bad experiences in the past! I appreciate your help!
