Here are some inspired ideas by George Carlin on how to stay young. I think they’re brilliant. Now if we could all manage to do this, maybe we would live a little longer!
“Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay them.
Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.
Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever, even ham radio. Never let the brain idle. ‘An idle mind is the devil’s workshop.’ And the devil’s family name is Alzheimer’s.
Enjoy the simple things.
Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.
The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.
Surround yourself with what you love, whether it’s family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.
Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.
Don’t take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.
Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.
AND, ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. We all need to live life to its fullest each day!!!”

Hi Phyllis, I completely agree with you that his wisdom from late in his life is inspirational. However, we must also remember that he died at 71 of heart failure after years of alcohol and drug addiction, IRS problems and failed marriages in his earlier years. To which he would say “Age is only a number”. True, but from my perspective 91 sounds better than 71! Statistically people with epilepsy die younger than their peers and the cause of death is not usually epilepsy but the more common heart conditions and cancers. This is why it is even more important that people with epilepsy have a healthy diet and exercise regularly. (sadly, the average doctor is not an expert on diet or exercise so we have to take that responsibility for ourselves.) Taking note of George Carlin’s advice would also help, of course!

Welllllll,, How do I say this? or maybe not say it ? Besides my own mother, who I dearly love, she has been the only person with the wisdom & truth to really tell me what & how I need to survive against & with this world depending who they are. It’s sad though when you mention God & Jesus Christ who people flee & tend to ignore you, BUT the bible says Draw nearer to God, and the devil will flee from you. Strange though that seizures CAUSED BY STRESS & OTHERS, always can make you think you never match up to them, but if they are all on the side of the devils workshop, I don’t care to match up with them, as I now for the past 2 months where I bowl, that they think I had another seizure, when only what happened was I turned my head & wasn’t looking & the corner of my eye hit a chain from a ceiling fan handle & chain & that was 6 weeks ago & I still have a slightly black eye, BUT they woman at the lanes said to me 2 weeks later after this happened with SMILES on her face asking DID YOU HAVE ANOTHER ONE ? when 2 years ago when I did have a seizure there, she was there to assist me. As the DOORS last song was PEOPLE ARE STRANGE, and I can never say 1 little thing that never offends someone, so I must be saying & doing something right. You stay YOUNG by never caring what others think of you. I AM WHO I AM, and as long as Jesus Christ accepts me, as I do him, THAT’S all that matters, along with doing good to those who hate you.
