In these uncertain times, there’s still so much to be grateful for.
Like each other.
The things we bring to each other’s lives.
The generosity and caring of so many.
The positive attitude and sharing.
The advice and giving.
All of your inspiration.
And the love surrounding us.
Let’s never forget how blessed we are.
Is there any group of seniors . esp those diagnosed in later years?

SO TRUE. I know what MY EXPERIENCES HAVE BEEN, and they say that all cases of everyone with epilepsy that 1 never is the same as another person who has the same ”condition” that they will call it a DISORDER. Get this, that every DISORDER can never be treated, as they use the term DISORDER to get us to be a part of THEIR TREATMENT PATTERNS that only treats the SYMPTOMS,, and more so than to CONTROL OUR LIFE, but any ”’condition”’ ”’can be cured & healed”’ in time. From only 10 MILLION in 1975 who lived with epilepsy to the STOP COUNTING NUMBER OF 65 MILLION after 2015, as 2000 year had 50 MILLION living with Epilepsy, not counting then the people who were never diagnosed with Epilepsy, HOW MANY TODAY have epilepsy & are NOT COUNTED in that number of 65 MILLION ? Just say there is closer to 80 MILLION living with seizures starting in 2022, as the toxic chemical world is always INCREASING in the drugs, drinks, foods & all NON DRUG & NON FOOD ITEMS, and more & more ways where EXCITOTOXINS are killing people from all SHOTS a person can have, and get a form of EPILEPSY that is never reversible once it starts. Also when ANY child is 1st diagnosed with EPILEPSY, tell me WHY liquid DILANTIN is always a #1 drug to start kids with ”no matter what that seizure type is ? Then there is liquid KEPPRA for a #2 drug that they use today as we all know that both DILANTIN & KEPPRA will do BAD THINGS to any brain that’s NOT 100% developed, that their brain will slow down or just freeze & stop all brain development & normal brain growth, to where seizures are a LIFETIME CONDITION & THAT is all what neurologists & all other doctors like to see for THEIR OWN JOB SECURITY and when 1 doctor starts the liquid AED’s & other drugs to go with them, then it’s over for that life to have any normalcy after 60+ years have passed on. BUT people refuse to pay any attention to the EXCITOTOXINS & THE DAMAGES THEY CAUSE. All doctors know what they do, but they like supporting themselves more & BIG PHARMA too where the 2 of them are working to ruin & control your life. THE SNAKE / SERPENT is their logo. How is it that their practices & medical advice is so trusted when the numbers have increased so much after 55 years of the SAME DRUGS given to the SAME AGE GROUP 10 years & under, and over 95% of them 50+ years later STILL HAVE SEIZURES after 60 years have passed by & no real changes has ever happen to get rid of seizures for ALL AGE GROUPS who have epilepsy ? Sure there is a lot to be grateful for, and 1 thing is to know that the BRAIN DOES NOT LIE, ”for anyone” WHEN you want to know the truth, and WHEN you can see how brain chemistry is and always WILL BE EFFECTED from the same toxins & chemicals that the world of the medical & drug establishments have tried to control & ruin human life, until the BRAIN SPEAKS OUT LOUD of what is & has been happening when it gets ABUSED, and like wise it will speak with humility when it gets treated good when given the right things that can & could stop seizures, like GOING OFF ALL DRUGS can do that where drugs are the root causes of the seizures happening to that person. It all starts with the LIQUID AED’s that destroys normal brain growth & development, when you’re under 10 years old or over & near 15 years old with other drugs that are taken for the 1st time. So I say learn to LISTEN to your brain 1st., then maybe trust a neurologist IF you can, and USE YOUR EARS more than they use their ears. 61+ years of seizures, has made my hearing better, when a neurologist is talking, plus seeing how exciting they seem to talk to you, when they want to SELL YOU of something not proven 100% effective. Could they sell themselves the same things ? Would they buy their own sales pitch they tell to us ?

Aren’t you just a little off topic, James?

James, I am genuinely sorry that you appear to have nothing to be grateful for. Living with epilepsy can be difficult and scary but when you compound it with pseudo science and conspiracy theories lt makes it even worse. Out of compassion I urge you to seek professional help, it doesn’t have to be from a doctor. Some people get comfort from clergymen, some from therapists some from “communing with nature.” Exercise, dietary changes, pets or just helping others may also help. James, you deserve a Happy New Year. Best wishes.

Thanks to all the people who stood by me when the whole world seemed to crash over my head, from being totally stranger to epilepsy & stubbornly refusing to accept the challenging neurological transformation, medical ordeals & social adjustments into learning how to cope with the unpredictable seizures had been the most groundbreaking experience in my life.
It’s pleasing to know that there are good people out there who lifted me up when I was down & out, it’s incredible to imagine I made it this far, overcoming all the hardships I’ve learned to live with epilepsy.
Closing another chapter at the end of this year, may the new year bring blessings & joy to all of us who had been connected to each other in the pursuit of healthy better life.
HAPPY & HEALTHY NEW YEAR TO ALL!

As we end this year Phylis, you and Epilepsy Talk kindly brought me back to a reality compass that continues to ground me in the blessings we have in each other. Epilepsy can become so overwhelming. Employment (or lack thereof), prescription prices, ongoing repairs to house and car all can come crashing in over our heads and simply become too much … if we let it.
I found there is still so much for me to savor and wanted to give credit:
1) Though I’m not employed in my former vocation yet volunteer at the Epilepsy Foundation and am treated there with dignity. 2) The most recent prescription cost was going to be over one thousand dollars. I shared this information with my Epileptologist. He passed it along to the Vanderbilt Hospital Pharmacy, who then shared this with Pharmacord. It took paperwork but the medicine is now coming to me at no cost. 3) There is still work to be done on my house – I was resentful – until I saw a rundown woman holding up a HOMELESS sign asking for assistance. 4) My car was in need of repairs. That about put me over in negativity until I remembered that I can drive.
You have given me a safe space to come and simply be and not have to do. I thank you for that Phylis and for all others at Epilepsy Talk. Blessings now and into 2022.

I’m sure you’ve read this George. Gerrie brought it to my attention:
“I cried because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet.” Helen Keller
You would give that man YOUR feet, if you could. I’m sure of it, George.
