Exciting Stuff! | September 12, 2020
A Facebook follower suggested today that I apply to the International Bureau for Epilepsy for one of their Global Teams.
I’m applying for the Global Action Team – all the stuff that I do here, but on an international basis.
I’m so excited about the possibility of an opportunity to advocate on an international level. I can barely sit still!
Cross your fingers.

Thank you for the confidence boost. Sometimes it’s difficult to work all alone and figure out whether you’re giving people what they want/need. Are you resonating with your facts? Are you explaining things correctly?
All those things niggle at my mind. So, to have a vote of confidence really helps!

Yeah you’d be great, you’re a wonderfully informed, and you are compassionate toward sufferers of all types of epilepsy. I always come here because it is so inclusive of all forms of it.

Expanding your devine advocacy into global mission, I’m definitely sure you’ll be representing. rescuing & helping millions of voiceless victims of Epilepsy, humiliated & ashamed to come out from the dark ages of social isolation, condemnation & denial to speak out for themselves & seek medical attention to their Epileptic seizures.
I admire the individual who suggested & encouraged you to see that there’s global need to fight the social nightmare & global misconceptions burying the medical disorder in unjustified condemnation of the victims of Epilepsy for centuries.
IT’S TIME FOR EPILEPSY TO COME OUT FROM THE IRON CURTAIN FOR THE WHOLE WORLD TO SEE & SAVE THE VICTIMS OF EPILEPSY!

That’s a great plan to get epilepsy & seizures the world wide attentions of the awareness & needs that people with any type of seizure condition/s deserve. With that the U.S.A. seems to be behind in finding the cures for seizures, BUT Israel has great doctors & a lot better medical & neurological protocols that DO work & they do not have a BIG PHARMA dictating what they do top help cure seizures for anyone, with any type of seizure condition/s. Anything that causes or triggers any seizures MUST be made known world wide. If you need help in ANY seizure topic that is a trial or hard to complete, I am here to help. One thing is that a so called TRIGGER for seizures is a big question, if the CAUSE of the trigger was not in the neurological system of the brain chemistry which makes a seizure happen. Maybe if the photosensitive epilepsy is all cause from lights & etc… which I never experienced but it seems to me that you never hear of people with that condition, saying that food & drug toxins makes them see lights or shadows that makes unstable brain actions, but one never knows how it all happens when MSG, ASPARTAME, NITRATES & NITRITES are involved.

Wonderful, Phylis! You are perfect for the job! As difficult as it is for people with E in the U.S., I do believe people in many other countries are significantly more stigmatized and not treated properly.

The work of the IBE can be found at ibe.org for those who dont use social media like Facebook. They seem to be contemplating setting up six bureaux to cover differing aspects of the “Epilepsy Community ” (if there is such a term.) I am sure that you could make a great contribution to at least three of the bureaux. Selfishly I have to say that if you do start to contribute to their work I hope that will not affect the wonderful work that you do for Epilepsy-talk. The range of topics that you have covered this year alone was bery informative and thought provoking Phylis, thank you.

Michael, I am applying for the Global Action Team , working at regional and national levels to reduce stigma, increase awareness, educate and bring epilepsy into public and political focus.
So with your knowledge of the IBE, you can see how exciting this prospect is for me.
Never ever would I abandon Epilepsy Talk. It is the reason I get up in the morning. It is what keeps my life’s blood flowing. It is my purpose and my love.

How many people with epilepsy get the feeling that some social workers that are there to help.they put you down for trying to talk to them rather than they give you good advice.

Marsh, speaking as a long-time social worker, I would say that it is probably ignorance. Like Doctors or other specialists, social workers are trained in specialties such as children, adoptions, clinical ( psychological), etc. You wouldn’t see an optometrist if you stomach hurt, right? What was your experience? ( being defensive here lol)
