Why 3D TVs are NOT for me…

Here’s the good news and the bad news…

The GOOD: You can buy a 3D TV without using the 3D function.

The BAD: I threw up watching Avatar and I’m not even photosensitive!

I guess you get the message.

Watching 3D can cause other problems in addition to causing seizures. They include: altered vision, lightheadedness, dizziness, eye or muscle twitching, confusion, nausea, loss of awareness, convulsions, cramps and disorientation. (So I’m not such a wuss.)

Epilepsy Summer Camps

Attached is a compilation of EFA Summer Camps. Ages range from 6 – 26, depending upon the camp and its activities. All dates are approximate and the camps should be contacted early for exact dates and application.

Staff includes a neurologist, several nurses, and counselors, all with special training in how to recognize and respond appropriately to seizures. The security of having specially-trained medical personnel available provides a safe environment in which campers can enjoy a variety of socialization activities that promote self-confidence, cooperation, respect for others, maturity and an appreciation of their own abilities.

To be eligible, a child must:

Have a primary diagnosis of epilepsy

Be between the specific ages qualified

Be able to feed, bathe, dress and toilet without assistance

Work well in small groups

Applying to the summer camps early will help avoid disappointment. Enrollment is limited. For further information, click on www.epilepsytalk.com

Medical alert jewelry goes back more than 50 years, when simple metal bracelets and necklaces noted a wearer’s medical condition. It was a great idea to help emergency personnel provide faster treatment. But as smart as the idea was, some people were less than enthusiastic to wear it because it was so downright unattractive.

Now there are plenty of great looking alternatives…

How Creative Are YOU?

I was born a writer. Just like I was born with brown eyes. In 5th grade when we were assigned to write a poem with an illustration, everyone wrote about the spring, flowers, stars, the city, the country. I wrote about racism. My illustration was a black silhouette pasted against white paper. My teacher promptly sent me home with a note for my parents, accusing me of plagiarism.

Here are some inspired ideas by George Carlin on how to stay young. I think they’re brilliant. Now if we could all manage to do this, maybe we would live a little longer!
