How many of us have heard: “Your EEG is normal. You’re fine..” (“It’s all in your head?”)
I know of people who have had 5 EEGs, only to be properly diagnosed when they finally had video EEG monitoring.

New research from Canada shows that almost half of the time, doctors and nurses on popular TV medical dramas respond inappropriately to seizures, suggesting that watching TV is not the best way to learn what to do if you are present when someone has a seizure.
One of the main goals of the new Health Care Bill is to make sure most Americans have insurance coverage, no matter what their health status is, their age or their disability. “Two years ago, University of Wisconsin-Madison scientists reported they had suppressed epileptic seizures in rats by giving them a glycolytic-inhibitor, inhibiting the brain’s ability to turn sugar into excess energy and blocking the expression of seizure-related genes. The discovery was greeted with excitement and hope for a new class of drugs for epilepsy, which afflicts more than 50 million people worldwide…”
